Tui Te Hau

MInstD

Tui Te Hau (MInstD), Rongomaiwahine, is the Chief Executive of Te Matarau a Māui, the Māori economic agency for the greater Welllington region, and the founder of innovation consultancy Bird Island.   She has a background in international trade, start-ups, the culture and heritage sector and the design of innovation programmes including the first business accelerator for the museum sector and the launch of the respectful ageing innovation challenge for the Selwyn Foundation.   In 2023, she was involved in the Mentoring for Diversity programme as a mentee and has board roles including co-Chair of Dev Academy and the Creative Communities Funding panel for Wellington.  She is a trustee of Endometriosis NZ and the Mary Potter Hospice and a patron for the Limited Service Volunteer programme for Defence.  

Tui’s previous governance roles include: Museums  Aotearoa, Ministry of Defence – Employers Support Council member; the Intellectual Property Office of NZ – Māori Trademarks Advisory Committee member.
