Overview

Senior director and Chartered Fellow, Jackie Lloyd CFInstD will speak on the theme ‘Bringing your best self to the board’ followed by discussions in break-out groups with our facilitators Kirsty Campbell CMInstD, Caren Rangi MInstD, and Rowena Davenport MInstD.

Our mentor circles are structured gatherings, bringing together participants in small group sessions for in-depth discussions on a specific topic, following a workshop-style format online. We aim to foster open conversations in a safe and confidential environment.

Come prepared to be an active participant, provide constructive feedback, network and learn from other participants in the group.

This event is capped at 40 participants (10 per breakout group) and the opportunity to connect in a Women Directors' Network LinkedIn group will be provided afterwards.

Jackie Lloyd

CFInstD

Jackie Lloyd BA, BCom, CFInstD, is President of the Institute of Directors and a National Council member.

A life-long interest in the relationship between human behaviour and business performance led Jackie through an executive career as the global human resources director for the New Zealand Dairy Board and NZMP Fonterra, to consulting and governance.

She is currently chair of Naylor Love Enterprises Ltd and director of CentrePort Ltd. Jackie is also Deputy Chair of the Lion Foundation and a board member of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.

Jackie’s previous governance roles include AgResearch, Kiwi Group Holdings, NZ Post and New Zealand Cricket.

Kirsty Campbell

CMInstD

Kirsty is a professional director and commercial adviser who has held a range of roles in corporate finance, banking, law and regulation.

She is chair of Mitchell Vranjes, a Public Trust board member and an independent director of NZHL, Salt Funds, Toitū Envirocare, Ando Insurance and Montana Group. She is also a member of the NZ Markets Disciplinary Tribunal.

Her previous roles include Simplicity NZ (Independent Director), the Financial Markets Authority (Head of Supervision) and ANZ Corporate Banking (Senior Manager).

Kirsty is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary®, a certified member of INFINZ and a member of Global Women. A proud Scotswoman, she has a Bachelor of Law (Hons) and a post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, from the University of Edinburgh.

Caren Rangi

MInstD

Caren Rangi is an experienced public sector governance practitioner, a qualified chartered accountant and a proud Cook Islands Maori.   In 2018, she was conferred with an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to governance and the Pacific community and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Member of the Institute of Directors.

Currently Caren is the Chair of the Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa and of Pacific Homecare Services, and a Board member of Te Papa Tongarewa (the Museum of New Zealand), the Massey University Council and Pacific Co-operation Broadcasting Ltd. She is also a director of the Hawke’s Bay Regional Recovery Agency and the Hawke’s Bay Economic Development Agency. Her previous governance roles include Governor of Radio New Zealand, Chair of the Pacific Business Trust, Board member of NZ On Air (Irirangi Te Motu)  and founding member of the Charities Registration Board. In the Cook Islands, Caren has been instrumental in establishing a director’s development programme for Board members of Cook Islands state-owned enterprises.

Caren believes good governance matters because boards make decisions every day that affect peoples' lives and livelihoods, and in this complex world we now live in, robust decisions help keep us all safe.

Her other passions are her Cook Islands culture and language, good food and wine, and time spent with family and good friends.

Rowena Davenport

MInstD

Rowena is an experienced commercial leader having worked in the finance and professional services sectors and, for more than a decade, in various governance roles, most notably in rugby.

Rowena’s involvement in the governance of rugby comes from her belief that sport is a great catalyst for empowering people and enhancing communities. Her governance career began when she was the first woman appointed to the Board of the Otago Rugby Football Union, before becoming its Chair in 2019 – the first female Chair of a major Provincial Rugby Union in New Zealand. Since 2022 Rowena has been on the Board of New Zealand Rugby and the New Zealand Rugby Foundation which supports seriously injured players and advocates for player safety.

In recognition of her contribution to rugby governance, on International Women’s Day 2022, she was one of 12 women from across the globe awarded a World Rugby Executive Leadership Scholarship. The scholarship saw her accepted to attend an executive leadership programme, Women Transforming Leadership, at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School in October 2023.
