Join us for our first Women Directors’ Network Mentor Circle event for 2025.
Leading director Jackie Lloyd CFInstD will speak on the theme ‘Getting my voice heard’ followed by facilitated discussions in break-out groups with lead facilitators Rachel Afeaki-Taumoepeau CFInstD, Mary-Jane (MJ) Daly CFInstD and Suse Reynolds MInstD.
Our mentor circles are structured gatherings, bringing together participants in small group sessions for in-depth discussions on a specific topic, following a workshop-style format online. We aim to foster open conversations in a safe and confidential environment.
Come prepared to be an active participant, provide constructive feedback, network and learn from other participants in the group.
CFInstD
Jackie Lloyd BA, BCom, CFInstD, is President of the Institute of Directors and a National Council member.
A life-long interest in the relationship between human behaviour and business performance led Jackie through an executive career as the global human resources director for the New Zealand Dairy Board and NZMP Fonterra, to consulting and governance.
She is currently chair of Naylor Love Enterprises Ltd and director of CentrePort Ltd. Jackie is also Deputy Chair of the Lion Foundation and a board member of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.
Jackie’s previous governance roles include AgResearch, Kiwi Group Holdings, NZ Post and New Zealand Cricket.
CFInstD
Rachel Afeaki-Taumoepeau is an experienced independent strategic and business director for FaceNorth Promotions, overseeing key relationships in the public and private sectors internationally, including across the Pacific region. Her broad commercial experience includes numerous projects between New Zealand and the Pacific relating to trade and investment promotion and facilitation, international research expeditions, public relations, marketing management, government and NGO advisory.
She is an independent director for Habitat for Humanity NZ, Activate Education Group Ltd, Deputy Chair for Ember Wellbeing Trust and Chair of WEL Energy Trust. Rachel holds various NGO governance roles in the Social Housing, Mental Health and Business and Economic Development spaces and is highly engaged in international global Church governance through the World Evangelical Alliance.
Rachel also delivers consultative management services to a national NGO that addresses family wellbeing, prevention of violence and child abuse across New Zealand and has passion to advance Pacific economic development regionally. Rachel is a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Directors NZ and sits on the Waikato Committee for IoD.
CFInstD
Mary-Jane (“MJ”) is Chair of AIG Insurance New Zealand Limited, Chair of the Fonterra Shareholders Fund, Chair Elect of Partners Life, an Independent Director of Kiwi Property Group Limited and Kiwibank Limited. She is also a member of the MBIE Risk and Advisory Committee. She has served on the boards of Auckland Transport, Toka Tu Ake EQC, Cigna Life Insurance, Airways Corporation of New Zealand and the New Zealand Green Building Council.
In her executive career MJ worked mainly in banking and insurance in a variety of roles both in New Zealand and the UK. Her last executive role was as Executive General Manager at State Insurance. Prior to this appointment she was Chief Financial Officer for IAG in NZ.
When not In Auckland, MJ enjoys spending time in Wanaka and making the most of all the outdoor activities on her doorstep there.
MInstD
Suse Reynolds was a founding member of the AANZ Council joining at its inception in 2008. She took up the Executive Director role in 2012, transitioning to Chair in 2020 and stepping down from this role at the end of March 2024.
In 2005 Suse helped to found AngelHQ, the Wellington region’s angel network and remains on the Board. Today AngelHQ has about 100 members and has invested over $50m into 150+ high-growth startup companies.
An active angel investor, Suse has over 30 ventures in her portfolio and currently chairs Narrative Muse, a startup bringing representation and belonging to entertainment.
Suse Chairs the Wellington branch of the Institute of Directors and is on the National Council.
Suse recently stepped down from the board of CreativeHQ and as a trustee for Project Crimson Trust. Suse was the Deputy Chair of the Government appointed Startup Advisors Council which released the Upstart Nation Report in August 2023.
